EDF Energy recently hosted two successful regional conferences in Somerset and Suffolk to share its plans for nuclear new build with the local communities. A national conference is now planned for 13 September 2010 in London to further highlight the plans and designs for nuclear installations in the UK.
Initially EDF Energy plans to build four new UK EPR reactors in the UK, with the first two at Hinkley Point, followed by two reactors at Sizewell.
At the UK National Suppliers Event, key speakers will provide an update of the current position for Hinkley Point and Sizewell C, and ensure that UK companies are aware of the opportunities that those investment plans will create. Presentations in the afternoon will be led by key EDF Energy staff from engineering and will focus on the codes and standards to be used to help companies understand the requirements for working on the project.
All of us depend on reliable, affordable and clean supplies of energy. Delivering long-term investment to achieve this is one of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry and the UK as a whole. Our aim is to play a leading role in UK nuclear new build, alongside our investment programmes in other forms of low carbon generation.
