Nuclear Passport update

The latest newsletter on progress of the Nuclear Passport has been published by the National Skills Academy Nuclear.

The Nuclear Skills Passport implementation pilot commenced with a kick off meeting mid January 2010 and was undertaken by seven employer members of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (EDF, Carillion, AMEC, Babcock, NDA, Lab Impex and Magnox South.

The purpose of the pilot was to capture and share the learning from the implementation of the Nuclear Skills Passport within Skills Academy member organisation’s based on the experiences of the pilot participants, hence  enabling confident decisions to be made by the Skills Academy on its national roll out to other organisation within the nuclear sector.

The technology part of the pilot also tested the integration with existing HR systems – something that has never been fully tested due to the secure requirements of the project, now that the system has been accredited by the Office of Civil Nuclear Security.

The implementation pilot was also subjected to external evaluation which:-
* Measured the performance of the Nuclear Skills Passport pilot.
* Measured the actual and/or potential impact of the Nuclear Skills Passport as a Product
* Identified any value added already/likely to be achieved as a result of Skills Passport implementation

Through performance measurement, the Skills Academy has been able to put in place the necessary measures to ensure a smooth transition of the Nuclear Skills Passport to the rest of the industry, including the necessary
implementation support.
