Dounreay offshore clean-up on YouTube

A major effort to clean up the seabed near the redundant nuclear site at Dounreay is captured in a new film on YouTube.

“Seabed Clean-Up at Dounreay” follows the work of contractor Land and Marine last summer to track down and remove fragments of nuclear fuel from the seabed.

The seven-minute film has been produced by Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd, the company responsible for the site clean-up on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

The film follows the 22-strong crew from their preparations in harbour and features footage of the recovery of a fragment.

Over 400 fragments were retrieved, including 81 deemed to pose a “significant” risk to health.
