Following a report about Horizon’s new build proposals in a national newspaper , please see the following statement from Alan Raymant, Chief Operating Officer.
“We at Horizon are committed to developing our plans for new nuclear power stations in the UK and we are pushing ahead with our site studies and investigations. We are continuing to progress in our procurement discussions with the two consortia who are bidding to provide the reactor technology and manage construction. Choosing a delivery team for a multibillion pound project is a complex process and we must take the time needed to get it right.”
Our shareholders RWE and E.ON have also commented following discussions of their position in regards to new build plans in the UK:
RWE AG: “There is no direct impact of the German moratorium on our new build plans in the UK. RWE npower and Horizon, its joint venture with E.ON, are considering the lessons learned from the incidents in Japan, along with the rest of the industry.”
E.ON AG: “‘There is no direct impact of the German moratorium on our new build plans in the UK. In Europe generally the impact of the Fukushima incident varies between the different projects and countries. E.ON is working closely together with all relevant stakeholders also in the UK to analyse the consequences of the incidents in Japan.”
