Considering the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, the Council of the European Union declared that “the safety of all EU nuclear plants should be reviewed, on the basis of a comprehensive and transparent risk assessment (“stress tests”).
During their plenary meeting on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2011, WENRA members decided to provide “an independent regulatory technical definition of a “stress test” and how it should be applied to nuclear facilities across Europe”.
The proposal by the WENRA Task Force about “Stress tests” specifications was completed on 21st of April 2011. The proposal is published on WENRA website and is open for comments until 5th of May 2011. The comments can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
