The Nuclear Development Forum (NDF) has been established to secure the long-term future of nuclear power generation in the UK.
It supports and advises our Office of Nuclear Development (OND) in building and maintaining the UK as the best market in the world for companies to invest in nuclear power.
By bringing together Government with key industry stakeholders, the Forum ensures there is regular and high-level contact between all parties on the issues that matter the most to potential investors and operators.
The Forum’s main aims and objectives:
- To ensure the OND is aware of the industry’s views on the actions required for new nuclear investment in the UK
- To advise the Government on how to develop the right framework, consistent with energy policy goals, to secure a globally competitive supply chain in the UK
- To hold the OND to account for seeing through its programme of work, including the actions set out in the white paper.
The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change chairs the Forum, which meets three times a year. Its members are senior representatives from the nuclear industry, including vendors, operators, key suppliers, contractors and unions – as well as the Government.
