AMEC has been awarded a framework agreement by Sellafield Limited to provide specialist environmental consultancy support on the Sellafield site.
The three-year agreement, the value of which has not been disclosed, will see AMEC provide a wide range of services related to all aspects of environmental support. This includes environmental modelling and monitoring, site characterisation, support on regulatory compliance and advice on legislation and training.
Greg Willetts, Director of AMEC’s Consultancy Business said: “AMEC has worked across the site for more than 40 years and currently has a West Cumbrian workforce of more than 300, which is planned to increase. This is backed up by more than 2,100 nuclear professionals worldwide.”
He added: “AMEC has significantly expanded its global environmental capability following the acquisition of Entec in the UK and MACTEC in North America. This expertise, combined with our existing radiological, waste technology and radiochemical characterisation skills and our laboratory and test rig facilities, gives a unique offering to our customers.”
This contract, combined with existing engineering and design contracts, is another component of the wide ranging services AMEC provides Sellafield Limited in support of their operations.
Richard Elliott, the Sellafield Ltd Contract Officer’s Technical Representative, said: “Sellafield Limited is very much looking forward to working with AMEC on this agreement, which is in place to support the company’s environmental capability on a wide range of projects and operations across the Sellafield site.”
