URENCO launches nuclear video game

URENCO Group has launched Richie’s ‘World of Adventure’, a free, action-packed platform game for mobile devices and PCs that will help young minds learn about nuclear power, while having fun.
The game complements the very successful Richie series, URENCO’s ever-popular science mascot, who delivers hundreds of science workshops each year. In schools and at exhibitions all over the world, Richie introduces children to the basics of energy, sustainability and nuclear physics.
Now with this fresh, educational approach to learning, Richie’s ‘World of Adventure’ illustrates facts about the world’s energy mix through visually stimulating gameplay.
Starting in the UK, players guide Richie Enrichment through some of the world’s most iconic regions. By collecting blue energy ‘orbs’, Richie charges his battery and boosts his score, but he has to be careful to avoid the energy-sapping electrical devices that are out to drain his power. Each level features unique bonus games including trips up the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty.

“Learning is becoming more and more visual and digital, which is why we have designed an intelligent game to motivate our followers to learn more about nuclear,” commented Jayne Hallett, Head of Group Communications. “The launch of the game is the latest development in URENCO’s social engagement programme, which promotes discussion on the topics of low-carbon energy provision and nuclear as part of a balanced energy mix.”

The app version of the game is available for free download in the iTunes App store for iPhones, iPods, iPads and for Android platforms; and is also available online at www.urenco.com/richie.
A global scoreboard will help players measure their performance against the best players in the world. And to keep players’ hungry for more, a further six country levels will be launched by the end of 2012.
