NDA is offering bursaries worth up to £500,000 in total to support university research projects that can contribute to our decommissioning mission and develop the next generation of nuclear decommissioning specialists. The annual call, open to all universities and research institutes, is a key part of the NDA’s University Research and Development (R&D) programme.
This year’s bursary call is open in the following areas of interest:
- waste packaging and storage
- land quality
- spent fuel and nuclear material
- open criteria
Outputs from the research programmes will be published in peer-reviewed academic and industry journals, conference presentations and technical reports. The open call is managed through the website of the National Nuclear Laboratory, with proposals undergoing a technical review process by industry experts before selection. The closing date for applications is 15:00 20 January 2014 .
