AMEC has announced a partnership with Exelon Nuclear Partners, a division of US nuclear fleet operator Exelon Generation, to explore opportunities in new markets across the international energy sector.
This strategic partnership with a major nuclear operator will focus on both the nuclear new-build and existing reactor marketplaces, providing an engineering, consultancy, project management and operations support service.
“This new partnership will combine AMEC’s wide ranging nuclear skills, such as licensing, engineering consultancy and permitting expertise, with Exelon’s unrivalled operational experience,” said Clive White, President of AMEC’s Clean Energy Europe business.
“It supports our strategy to grow our nuclear capability and will create a formidable entity to target major projects in new and exciting markets such as the Middle East and mainland Europe.”
Amir Shahkarami, CEO of Exelon Nuclear Partners, added: “We are excited by the prospect of our two organisations coming together to offer a whole range of nuclear services across the energy sector.”
“The global opportunities across the sector, from new build through to decommissioning and waste management, are huge and we are confident that this partnership between two of the world’s leading nuclear organisations will enable us to provide excellent value to our nuclear customers.”
AMEC was already a highly respected nuclear engineering company in the UK and Canada when, in 2010, it established a US nuclear services team in its Atlanta, GA office. Since then, the company has grown the US nuclear business organically, and through the recent acquisition of Automated Engineering Services Corp. (AES).
