Sellafield Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of its 2014/15 Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) Procurement Plan. The purpose of the Procurement Plan is to improve the communication to SMEs of the opportunities available to them during 2014/15 and 2015/16.
During 2013, we were asked by our customer, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), to develop an action plan to support it in delivering Government’s SME Growth Agenda. The objective was, and remains, to achieve and sustain a minimum of 20% of annual supply chain spend reaching SMEs.
In response, Sellafield Ltd developed and is implementing our SME Action Plan. This was designed to enhance the conditions in which SMEs can flourish alongside other members of our supply chain, whilst improving value for the taxpayer. After engaging with SMEs we agreed that a procurement plan specifically geared towards SMEs would be valuable and useful.
The SME Procurement Plan includes:
- Progress on implementing the SME Action Plan,
- Planned developments for SMEs during 2014/15,
- A longer term perspective on Sellafield Ltd’s supply chain,
- Direct opportunities during 2014/15 and 2015/16,
- Awarded projects, contracts and frameworks over the last four years and
- Major Tier 2 frameworks and contracts that provide opportunities for SMEs.
The opportunities are a subset of the Procurement Plan Schedule, which is currently published via the Sellafield website, and covers one off procurements up to ~ £5m in value and frameworks of annual value ~ £5m.
Details of awarded projects, contracts and frameworks are provided so that SMEs can investigate sub-contract opportunities.
We believe that this information will of particular interest, and useful, to SMEs. We intend to update information quarterly.
