Horizon welcomes Wylfa Newydd planning guidance approval

horizon-logoHorizon Nuclear Power has welcomed the Isle of Anglesey County Council’s adoption of new Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) for Nuclear New Build at Wylfa.

The SPG sets out the Council’s vision and objectives associated with any planning applications relating to Wylfa Newydd in the future. The guidance will allow Isle of Anglesey County Council planners to make sound decisions relating to the new nuclear build project and its supporting infrastructure requirements.
Kieran Somers, Head of Planning at Horizon, said: “The Council’s adoption of the SPG is another positive step forward for Wylfa Newydd and will provide the framework within which the far-reaching benefits our development will bring to Anglesey and North Wales can be delivered. We welcome the Council’s decision and the establishment of a robust and transparent planning process for our future applications.”
While consent for the Wylfa Newydd power station is determined centrally by UK Government, enabling works and other associated developments linked to the power station – such as a logistics centre, park and ride facilities and workers’ accommodation – will be determined locally by Isle of Anglesey County Council.
