Sensing in Extreme Environments

KTN 200Many industries rely on sensing technologies that can operate in extreme environments.

For example, exposure to high levels of ionising radiation in space applications and nuclear power; high variances in pressure and heat in industrial gas turbines, aerospace, and geothermal power generation etc. The UK has a strong industrial presence in all of these sectors and a vibrant sensor research community in its universities and other research bases.  This workshop is intended to bring together Industry end-users, the sensor research community and sensor companies to share knowledge, network and generate future collaborations.

The workshop will cover some key topical issues of sensing needs and challenges in several key sectors including space, nuclear, aerospace and offshore oil&gas. It will highlight state of the art sensing technologies, metrology for sensing in harsh environments and novel sensor technologies under development in academia.
