Former NDA CEO appointed as new Chair of Sellafield Ltd

Tony Fountain who was CEO of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has been appointed as Chair of Sellafield Ltd and will take over from Tony Price on 1 April when Sellafield becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of the NDA.
The change in the management arrangements followed a review by the NDA in 2014 which culminated in then Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Davey’s announcement that he would end Nuclear Management Partner’s contract to manage Sellafield Ltd and bring the contract in-house.
Commenting on his appointment, Tony Fountain said: “Sellafield Ltd plays a crucial role in safely and securely managing the UK’s nuclear legacy. I am delighted to be asked to chair the organisation and help Paul Foster, his executive team and workforce to progress the decommissioning mission as effectively and efficiently as possible on behalf of the NDA.”
Tony Fountain was Chief Executive of the NDA from 2009-2011 and his appointment as Chair of Sellafield Ltd is initially for three years although this is renewable.
