The NIA has announced the creation of a new international initiative for its members: a sub Group on the Decommissioning Group focused on international collaboration and opportunity exploration that will be lead by the organisation’s Decommissioning Group Chairman, Gareth Davies.
The NIA Decommissioning Group’s remit expanded last year to include the Generation Sector. At present there is significant global interest, particularly in Europe and Scandinavia (where generating plants are soon to come off line), in Decommissioning planning and delivery with several NIA members expresing their interest in exploring opportunities to work in overseas jurisdictions and partner with companies in both, domestic and overseas jurisdictions.
The initiative will be formally launched at the next meeting of the NIA Decommissioning Group on Thursday 13 October in Oxford, which co-incides with the NI Central Branch Dinner that takes place on the same day. The meeting will focus on international opportunities with speakers from Europe, Scandinavia and possibly further afield.
Over the next weeks the sub Group will be working on its plans for this new initiatiave and they are looking for a small number of diverse NIA members who would be interested in joining a steering committee for the International sub Group and driving this initiative forward.
