NuGen was quick to congratulate Copeland by-election winner Trudy Harrison, as the company moves forward with plans to build Europe’s largest new nuclear power station at Moorside.
The nuclear new build developer will work closely with the newly-elected MP as it continues to build a robust business case to achieve a positive final investment decision while, at the same time, attracting major investors into the project to build three Westinghouse AP1000® reactors at the site, close to the Sellafield complex.
NuGen has been working closely with regional and local stakeholders as it develops its plans to deliver the plant, which will be capable of producing 3.8GW of low-carbon electricity – enough to power more than six million homes.
NuGen CEO, Tom Samson, congratulated Trudy Harrison on her victory, and committed to a close working relationship to help underpin the region’s biggest-ever private investment. He said, “My team and I look forward to working closely with Copeland’s new MP as we take forward this project, which will be transformational for the area.”
