EDF Energy is searching for new talent with more than 150 positions on offer, including graduate schemes, industrial placements and internships, with the deadline for applications on Friday (Dec 9).
Nuclear power is firmly on the agenda for the UK energy mix. With third generation reactors approaching, this one day event organised by IChemE’s Nuclear Technology Subject Group, will discuss the social, political and environmental challenges of nuclear new build.
In October 2010, Engineering the Future brought together a study working group at the request of the Office of Nuclear Development to examine the lessons that could be learnt from recent civil nuclear power plant construction projects and how they should be incorporated into the proposed UK new build programme.
The vision: to create a partnership between employers and Further and Higher Education Institutes to tackle the critical future workforce needs of nuclear new build.
The planned nuclear new build programme in the UK has been the subject of much discussion over the last few years.

EDF Energy held its second national supply chain event for UK contractors bidding for billions of pounds worth of work on its nuclear new build programme.
EDF Energy recently hosted two successful regional conferences in Somerset and Suffolk to share its plans for nuclear new build with the local communities. A national conference is now planned for 13 September 2010 in London to further highlight the plans and designs for nuclear installations in the UK.
